Some of the biggest names in Technology got together to urge President Trump not to withdraw the Untied States from the Paris Climate Accord. In 2015 almost 200 countries signed the agreement to reduce carbon emissions and to work to fight global warming. Since the United States burns so much energy the effects on the climate could increase more rapidly than estimated. Another concern is that if the US drops out other countries may follow. Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and a close advisor to Trump, has stepped down from several advisory council seats. Executives from huge companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google, Facebook and many others have reached out to Trump directly and issued official statements against this decision.&...

The discussion of Net Neutrality has been all over the news. No matter which side of the argument you land on this decision is a major one. Rules put in place under the Obama administration classify broadband internet as a utility and require providers to treat it as such. That means that all data must be treated equally and providers can't block certain legal sites or prioritize others who pay a premium. It also ensures that internet connectivity remains accessible to everyone and provides for subsidies in low income and rural communities. Sustainable Energy is the focus of many of Tesla's products and this new consumer product is designed to be the cornerstone of a self-sustaining home. These glass tiles come with integrated solar cells, an "infinity Warranty", and beautiful aesthetics that are virtually indistinguishable from more traditional roofing. Elon Musk has a vision for the future and is constantly striving to develop new and better technology that will bring us closer to that vision. An electricity generating roof that is affordable enough to be on every home is a big step in that direction.

The next big thing is shaping up to be fast and inexpensive construction. MIT is the latest to join the party with a robot they are hoping to use in remote regions and disaster relief areas. On Wednesday this week Google became the first foreign company to host data in Cuba. While this won't improve the very limited access most Cuban citizens have to internet it will improve speed for those who are already online. Up until now all internet access in Cuba goes through a submarine cable connected through Venezuela which is very slow. Currently internet access in Cuba is a luxury that most people can't afford, but maybe this is the first step towards making it a more economical commodity.
