It's been a big point of discussion and contention since the election last year and this week Congress has spoken.  The landmark FCC Broadband Privacy rules were passed last year  set to go into effect in December of this year but this will keep that from happening.  Critics of the rules have said that they are unnecessary and place too many restrictions on business.  Proponents say it prevents companies from spying on their customers and selling private information to the highest bidder.

Thousands of Twitter accounts including BBC North America, Duke University, EU Parliament and several French politicians as well as popular celebrities were hijacked by hackers this morning and used to spread political propaganda.  The messages were all in Turkish and included swastikas and hashtags referring to Holland and Germany as "Nazi". 

The messages are related to growing tensions between Turkey and the Netherlands and refer to a Turkish referendum coming on April 16th.  The hack seems to be linked to a third-party app called Twitter Counter.  Both Twitter and the third-party company have worked to restore control of these accounts back to their rightful owners and are promising to repair the vulnerabili...

Amazon Web Services hosts a major portion of internet data (Amazon owns 40% of the market share) for huge companies across the globe. On Tuesday their S3 services quit working for about 5 hours and consequently hundreds of thousands of websites were experiencing problems or were down altogether. While Amazon dealt with the issue quickly and services were restored completely the issue may have highlighted a real need for more redundancy in data storage.

A hacker who claims to be associated with "Anonymous" took down nearly a fifth of the Dark Web last weekend.  The hacker says he was just exploiting a vulnerability when he discovered that the servers he hacked into were over 50% child pornography.  He removed all the data and says he is going to turn it over to the authorities.  Views on the results of the hack are mixed with some saying it is big boon to law enforcement and others claiming violation of privacy and sensitive data.
